Biography
Torpignattara (Torpigna for the closest friends) is a multietnical district in Rome East, usually well known for its problems (criminality, culture clashes between the different ethnical groups, lack of green areas and low quality of urban life). But in fact if you live here for a while you will soon discover there is another side of Torpigna: many students and artists live also here. The only problem is theyr lack of visibility. A small group of friends started the project Alice Nel Paese Della Marranella (in italian it sounds very close to Alice In Wonderland) in 2013 with 2 main goals: 1) To have fun together 2) Give the artists and creative people living here the visibility they badly need. We make also an art festival every year by the end of may, inviting all the artists living in this area but also from everywhere in the world.
Description
Just to give an idea, about 250 artists attended the last edition of our festival, and there was an audience of 5000 people coming from every corner of Rome. Thus we can guarantee a good level of visibility for many artists. This is the only thing we can guarantee right now, 'cause we are not public subsided. So if you are an artist from Rome East (or anywhere in the world actually) and looking for a venue to play, we can provide a nice cultural festival as a stage. We can have fun together and maybe develope some ties that in the near future could bring some fruits, maybe even a paid concert. Because we think it's a shame that an artist usually has to perform almost for free. As soon as we get some money from our crowdfunding initiatives our aim is to finally pay the artists collaborating with us. But let's be clear about it: we are not so far right now.
