Biography
FIGLI DI MADRE IGNOTA: a wild bunch of food maniacs frying and electrifying Italian tarantella, Balkan and Middle Eastern melodies with a solid rock combo and a stingy horn section to cook a crunchy world party music for young punk dancers.
Based in Milano, Italy, Stefano Iascone (lead vocals, trumpet), Cristiano Novello (drums), Massimo Piredda (trombone), William Nicastro (bass), Marco Pampaluna (guitars), distilled their own version of balkan brass band, known as “Spaghetti Balkan”, and move forward plundering the traditional world music (Italian, Klezmer, Turkish, Gypsy) turning it into electric live shows in a psychedelic dance boiled in the Mediterranean Sea and amplified with sophisticated sounds, framed in the rock song scheme.
BELLYDANCER (Godzilla Market, 2014) develops a compelling menu of sounds for the curious listener: fanfare fried in funky groove, Carosone with rock masala, electric drum’n’bass marinated in middle east, scrambled tarantella with punk sauce, surfing guitars a-la Turca, combining languages and tongues in a research path of new flavors driven by appetite and lust, in the very traditional Italian creativity with (good) food.
Bellydancer, a call to dance aimed at the belly of the audience.
The band toured all over Europe from Portugal to Ukraine and beyond: at the Sziget Festival World Stage (2009, 2012, 2013), Lowlands (2009), Rock’n Coke Istanbul (2013), EskiÅŸehir Festival (2009), Hidrellez Festival Istanbul (2013), Ariano Folk Festival (2007, 2013), Fusion Festival (2009) and is well known for their energy and endless party attitude.
Figli di Madre Ignota has being produced by and has worked with Tod A. (Firewater, Coop Shoot Cop), Tamir Muskat (Balkan Beat Box), Roy Paci (Aretuska, Radio Bemba), former release being distributed worldwide by Eastblok, and were included in various balkan world music compilations.
