Biography
WHISKEY FUNERAL is an Italian rock’n roll quintet based in Florence. All the members are thirty something, they used to play together in various different bands, in different kind of music: death, thrash, hardcore and also a Slayer cover band, in the past 20 years. They was talking about it for years, during the alcoholic pub session and to the shows their attending together, and finally in 2009 they started their own rock’n roll project, with a lot of punk and metal influences, trying to mixing they different musical tastes. The name Whiskey Funeral has been chosen a couple of years before the first notes was played. Taken by a Darkthrone song, they think it represents in an appropriate way the two different sound of guitars of the band. The Zana’s whiskey guitar, blues-rock oriented and Toty’s funeral guitar, more under the punk metal influence. In 2010 they recorded a four tracks demo CD-r called “First shit”. All the tracks have been choosen to be included in different American and European compilations. In a couple of years they played more than fifty shows, not only in their country, with some of the best European rock’n roll acts. During the 2011 they entered the DITH Studio in Tuscany, to record their debut album who came out at the beginning of 2012, licensed by FSA records and distributed by Tornado Ride. It contains 9 tracks of raw, hard hittin’, punk-rock’n roll.
