Frau Blücher and the drünken horses

Punk rock band in Brussels, Brussels, BE

Biography

Frau Blücher and the drünken horses are a female fronted Hi-Energy Punk N Roll quartet from Brussels, Belgium. The band was created in 2011 by experienced musicians from various bands active on the Belgian scene. What was meant to be a one-time jam quickly moved into a solid band as new material was written. Frau Blücher's songs are written in the vein of the 70's/80's Punk & Heavy Rock and inspired by the likes of the Ramones, L7, Motörhead, Vice Squad, Blitzkrieg, Plasmatics, X-Ray Spex, The Damned, and many others. Only a few months after their creation the band was asked to play their first gig in Brussels; many more quickly followed... Led by their singer/screamer and noisy guitar riffs backed by a pounding rhythm section, the concerts of the Frau are direct, powerful and restless. In September 2012, the band recorded in their own recording studio what was going to become their debut album. The 10-track CD entitled "Quick & Dirty", made of original material only and produced by the band themselves in a 100% DIY approach, was released in January 2013 on P.O.G.O. Records. The band toured quite intensively throughout 2013 playing various venues and festivals in Belgium and France in support of their first album. In November 2013 P.O.G.O. Records released a compilation to celebrate their 20th anniversary. This free compilation includes Frau Blücher and the drünken horses' rendition of L7's Shitlist recorded by the band during the Quick & Dirty recording sessions. The band entered the studio in March 2014 to record their second full-length album that will be released in October 2014. For the record, the name of the band is taken from a character in Mel Brooks' movie "Young Frankenstein", a woman who has a strange relationship with horses.
