Interview with Karin:
My life is and always has been music. When I was a child I rushed home throwing my school satchel to one side drawn to the piano like a magnet. It started with Fräulein Fritsch as we were then living in Germany, and continued with Svea when we moved to Sweden. It was she who encouraged me to write music. I gradually got into music college.
In 2008 I formed a group consisting of voice, piano, string quartet, bass and drums. My first album ”Källan” was released in may 2009 and produced by Christoffer Lundquist at AGM studios, Sweden. Maybe you have seen us at Kulturhuset in Stockholm, Skulefestivalen, Umeå Jazz Festival, Malmöfestivalen, Nefertiti in Gothenburg, Fasching in Stockholm.
I’ve also played with Nina Persson (Cardigans), Robyn, Tingsek, Ebbot (Soundtrack of Our Lives) and worked at Helsingborgs Stadsteater, Skånska Teatern and Moomsteatern. I have written music for symphony orchestra and for Swedish Television news programme, for adverts produced by Vision Recording, Pogofilm, Modfilm, Mekano Film & TV, Nordisk Film & TV. I have written for documentary films and animation films as well as writing music for film director Roy Andersson.
I’ve spent a few years in France so some of my songs are in French.
I’ve been awarded with several prizes and scholarships from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee and STIM, https://www.stim.se/en/this-is-stim as from SKAP ( - The Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. SKAP holds presidency of ECSA - European Composer and Songwriter Alliance, and collaborates via ECSA with MCNA, Music Creators North America. )
Music is being recorded now at http://gulastudion.se/
Co-producer is Jens Lindgård (mainly known as a member of rapper Tumbuktu's backing band, Damn!), who runs the studio Gula Studion, where the two finalize each song's production together.( 8 songs are being finished.)
Sunstroke Rain, one of the latest Swedish pop artists has got credit for being inspiring and delivering a unique and vigorous pop music, with a wide range of dance rhythms, playful melodies and sophisticated sounds. Her debut earlier this year was very well received by the music branch and has resulted in a number of interesting bookings.
The sought-after composer and pianist Karin Turesson again takes centre stage, this time as the anagram Sunstroke Rain.
After her acclaimed pop debut, the album Källan (The Source) in 2009, she has continued to develop her music together with the help of talented musicians Olivia Lyne and Lisa Frisk. 3 keyboards (1 moog bass), 3 voices and some backtracks is the setting.
