Hi Amber Browning and welcome to LiveTrigger Magazine! Let’s start by introducing your project: what does make it unique and where is based?
2021 Outlaw Album with Country Producer Gene Breeden, Hall of fame for the Bakersfield sound; as revered architect producing legends George Jones, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Roy Acuff, Jean Shepard, Dolly, Stella Parton, Crystal Gayle, Red Simpson, Stonewall Jackson and many more.
With a beautifully talented army of musicians heralding a deep true Country Sound behind each of her originally written songs. Handcrafted with a deep Outlaw sound, the musicians that definitively graced the album are Jamie Bowles on piano, Kurt Olson on drums, (Georgette Jones) John Heinrich Pedal Steel for Ronnie Milsap, Mel Tillis fiddler Jim Buchanon, Craig Hutchins rhythm guitar from Colin Ray, legendary engineer and guitarist Dave Dixon.
What makes my new album unique is I am a female Outlaw Country Singer and there aren’t too many in the world.
Production is based in Nashville Tennessee, however, I work with many people in the industry from all over the US.
The album has such long-term integrity infused in it from my originally written songs, the composing of the music, the beautiful instrumentation, and the renowned musician’s sound and the production behind it.
I am pleased with how this magic has come to fruition and how what was once inspiration is now tangible.
Another unique aspect is we took what once was the roaring 70s Outlaw sound and made it our own with each number, each of the lyrics takes you there with grace.
The songs are relative to today in a head-turning and irresistible way.. but definitely not pop-country. Real, Raw, truth, passion, and a pastoral landscape inside each song.
How was your 2020 so far?
This year to me has not been any more challenging than any other. I’m used to hard work.
I have absolutely nothing to complain about as far as I’m concerned like Bob Dylan’s song “The times they are a-changing…It is now a music revolution not unlike the ’60s when there was so much hurt and pain that we yearned for music.
And the bands knew that because they longed to play…and create music and take everyone including themselves to a different place of freedom.
There will be a boom in the music industry..mark my words.
This Pandemic era has given light to what many have taken for granted, and now music needs to be heard; and created… more than ever.
What’s the most exciting thing that happened to you recently?
Getting brand new equipment for my live shows, and developing the final touches on a debut single I just released, ” White Lightnin” where I collaborated with George Jones and Tammy Wynettes’ daughter Georgette Jones in the making of her father’s famous hit.
I helped produce this, as well as Georgette’s husband, Jamie Lennon who plays pedal steel guitar for Easton Corbin.
Where do you get inspiration and how do you create your music?
Music has been embedded in my soul, a part of the very fabric of my being.
Since I was very little. I can’t escape it.
There’s almost a sense of urgency to listen as much as create.
My inspiration comes out of thin air as far as writing..indirectly….real life just comes together with the ethereal and creates moments that need a story…that beg to be a part of a song.
And the music behind it, I just hear it…
Real-life has so many small moments and large emotions that need a place to live and help heal others or make them dance or cry.
This is the purpose… movement.
Who are your favorite artists in your local scene?
My favorite artist has to be Dolly Parton.
Next is Robert Plant, then Stevie Nicks. After that, it goes on and on from John Fogerty to Stevie Ray Vaughn who has influenced my guitar work, to The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker band, and Loretta Lynn.
All the Rocknroll from the 60s and 70s have a huge impact on my music.
This is why you’ll find right after this Outlaw Album is released, a full-length Southern Rock Album will follow.
The new and veteran bands on the local scene that I love and promote through my music group on Facebook called Outlaw Country and Southern Rock, are important to me. We’re like family. Some of the following have great talent… Dallas Moore, Craig Gerdes, Rebecca Jed, and so many of the original Outlaws children are performers too like Paula Nelson, Raelynn Nelson, (Willie Nelson family) Thomas Gabriel (Johnny Cash grandson) Kasey Kristofferson (Kris Kristofferson) Hank 3 and now IV ( Hank Williams).
I personally come from music royalty as well my grandmother was a Hollywood movie star, singer, and dancer.
How did they influence your style & sound?
All the Classic/Southern rock and outlaw country have influenced my sound and the fact that I always have been a writer has helped me hone my craft and spin it into songs that take you away…much in the same way my favorite songs growing up took me away.
Even just for a country drive, you have to enjoy the music..new country music just isn’t doing it for the general population.
The crying moan of a pedal steel guitar you might hear in an old Hank Williams song or the beautiful voice in a Loretta Lynn song and the emotion in Dolly’s songs make me want to create music today.
What’s the best live music show you’ve seen recently? Whitey Morgan and Lukas Nelson and the promise of the real (Willie Nelson’s son.)
What is your best and your worst memory on the road?
All good memories for sure.
I have to say though seeing a few fellow musicians recently pass away in accidents has devastated the community.
It makes one count their blessings. My best memory performing is when members of the Marshall Tucker Band told me I sang ” Can’t you see” better than them.
It’s those little things along the way that are worth far more than money or fame.
What do you think about LiveTrigger?
I love it.
I think you guys are doing an amazing job and really help musicians to connect and expand.
I also see a lot of integrity in your work and passion.
That’s why I took part.
