CHOKE ON ME: Dirtle-Punkrock your grandmother would love

CHOKE ON ME is an austrian punkrock band from Vienna, born in 2013 and rocking since then... it is a story about good friends, good music and good beers!

Hi. Tell us your story in 3 sentences.
Claus: We started in 2013, we were just 4 friends who all played in bands before and I guess we just wanted to spend some quality time together in our rehearsal room and drink beer. That was so much fun that we decided to take it a little further, start as a proper band and play live shows and stuff.

Tell us something about your last album or your last musical production.
Claus: Our first release was a 3 song tape called „Dirtle“ that we recorded it in our rehearsal room. Next month we are hitting the studio again to record some songs for an upcoming Split-EP.

What is your “home ground” area? Tell us something about it.
Claus: We are based in Vienna and I’d say we have a very lively scene here. There are so many great bands around, not only from Vienna, from all around Austria. There are a lot of great venues like „dasBach“, the „Arena“ or the „EKH“ squat.

What’s the best live act in your area? tell us something about it
Claus: That’s a tough question cause there are really so many great bands around. Our guitar player Klaus runs a little record label called „Schall & Rauch Platten“ and he realeased a fair share of great austrian music like „the DeeCracks“, „Heroes’n’Ghosts“, „Wham Bam Bodyslam“ and so many other great bands!

Which artists have influenced your style & sound, if any?
Claus: Pfuuh, that’s hard to say. I guess we can all agree on Late-70ies-UK and Early-80ies-US Punkrock.

Any favourite artists?
Claus: Hell yeah, plenty of them haha.

What’s the last live music show you’ve seen?
Claus: I saw „Stiff Little Fingers“ last night in Vienna; great Band!!

Tell us something about your best and your worst memory on the road
Claus: I guess we all had a lot of best and worst moments on the road, but you know: what happens on tour stays on tour!!

Did you plan to have a tour in the next future? Tell us something about it.
Claus: As all of us are working and/or studying we are limited to do small weekend tours at the moment. But we definitely love to play live, I guess that’s why we do music in the first place: to play live. And yeah, we are planning to do a little tour next summer.

What do you think about LiveTrigger? Did you manage to book any shows?
Claus: It is always good to see independent magazines, blogs, record labels,… So yeah, thanks for letting us be part of LiveTrigger, keep it up!
