REWINDER: somewhere between love and garage

Juli and Matt are two passionate lovers known as Rewinder. She plays drums and he plays guitar. They're always on tour and they spent few minutes with us to answer our question...enjoy!

Hi. Tell us your story in 3 sentences.
First, we played for fun as we were just a couple. After only one rehearsal, we realized that we had some potential together. Rewinder was born quickly after.

What is your “home ground” area? Tell us something about it.
We live in the suburb of Paris. This city is great, but it is unfortunately more and more difficult for a band to play in Paris in good conditions. Now, the suburb offers new interesting places, so it is important not to focus on Paris itself.

What’s the best live act in your area? Tell us something about it.
The most legendary place in Paris for underground culture used to be La Miroiterie. During 15 years, thousands of bands played there. Unfortunately the place has closed its doors a few month ago. New places are emerging now in the suburb.

Which artists have influenced your style & sound, if any?
Grunge music is one of the biggest component of our influences. We love the dirty sound from Mudhoney, L7 and many more. But we are also influenced by Sonic youth as well as garage punk music and post hardcore.

Any favourite artists?
Black Flag, Sonic Youth, Devo, Mc Lusky, Sloy, Nirvana…

What’s the last live music show you’ve seen?

Beatles or Rolling Stones?
Definitely BEATLES!!!

Tell us something about your best and your worst memory on the road.
We were on tour in Germany, last show of the tour in kassel. matt was very ill, we arrived at the place and we had to play very late. Matt was dying before we play. While playing, there was a drunk guy in the audience pushing the microphone on Matt’s face. After five times,Matt’s face was bleeding, and Juli jumped over the drumkit during the song in order to beat the drunk guy with her sticks. There was a certain tension between the audience and us, and this finally created something very energetic, the show in a great blast!

What do you think about LiveTrigger?
Livetrigger is a very good alternative to the common social networks, it is free, you can interact with all the musician community all over the world. This a very good way to promote a tour or a band in the DIY style!
