Hi Matthew and Josh from Southern Entertainment, welcome to the LiveTrigger Magazine!

Let’s start by introducing your project: describe Southern Entertainment in 3 sentences!

Southern Entertainment is an events and entertainment business who are committed to providing quality entertainment, production, artist management, recording and promotion services and cultural events to Sydney, the South Coast of NSW and Melbourne.

We can offer a range of artists to suit any venue or festival’s needs.

A passion of ours is to help promote independent artists and help them navigate the complex modern music industry.

What you’ve been up to in 2019?

This year has seen us book and promote the East Coast tour for HMO’s new release ‘Heightened Modus Operandi’, work on recording and producing singer/songwriter Acton Wikkens’ new EP and book the tour for Hip Hop act Southern Cross Mafia.

Along with helping curate the Gerringong Surflife Music Festival and put on events to help our artists get their music out there.

What have been some of the biggest challenges in developing Southern Entertainment?

The biggest challenges have been trying to develop a cohesive and functional structure for the business and making sure we do all we can for our artists.

Another challenge has been the changing landscape of live music in Australia and trying to ensure that we bring the audiences to support the artists.

What was a crucial milestone in its evolution? And what about the biggest failure?

The crucial milestone in our evolution was becoming the official booking agent for the Gerringong Surflife Music Festival.

We have been able to, with the help of Festival director and organiser Adam Loxley really develop a direction for the music and production side of the festival.

We experience failures at every step of the way when organising and funding events.

However, this never diminishes our desire to promote great Australian independent music and every failure brings us closer to success.

Who are your artists?
