Hi Stephen Burnham, and welcome to LiveTrigger Magazine! Let’s start by introducing your project: what does make it unique, and where is it based?
My aim is to combine “Technical Excellence with Musicianship” and this is based on “Alexander Technique”, (playing in a relaxed manner).
How was your 2021 so far?
Due to coronavirus, all “Live Music Venues” have been closed, so I just keep dedicating myself to my usual 5-6 hours practicing a day.
I’m always working on my technique.
What’s the most exciting thing that happened to you recently?
Improving my “Tone Production” (technique). This always inspires me!
Where do you get inspiration, and how do you create your music?
As mentioned above, from improving my tone production, and working on musicianship to create my music.
Who are your favorite artists in your local scene?
Since childhood, John Williams & Julian Bream.
How did they influence your style & sound?
Though there “Tone Production” (Technique).
I can only describe it as a “bell like tone”, beautiful!
What’s the best live music show you’ve seen recently?
It wasn’t recently, it was when I was only about 12 or 13 years of age.
I saw Segovia live, play at the Hemel Hempstead Hippodrome.
He was 86 then.
What is your best and your worst memory on the road?
My best memory was performing my “Final Recital” at the “Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance”.
This was when I achieved and passed my “Postgraduate Diploma in Performance in classical guitar” (PGDip).
My worst memory was playing to only about 5 people at a music festival about 3 years ago.
What do you think about Livetrigger?
EXCELLENT ! They are a very professional organization.
