Biography
Sharman Den’s music sounds like many things and nothing else at once. The diversity of its influences and the distinctive sonority of the alternative tunings make his music hard to relate to his origins.
Born and raised in Barcelona (Spain) within a French and Spanish family, this self-taught guitarist, singer and composer, started forming bands as a teen. In 2007 he joined The Walkers as solo guitarist, band in which he still remains.
It was during his London period when he first came up with the idea of Hard Folk, by trying to label his acoustic guitar-based tunes with ruthless arrangements in mind. Like Sharman Den describes it: “Imagine the band Beirut. Now take out the ukulele and the little trumpet and put a Ginger Baker on the drums and a John Entwistle on the bass. That’s Hard Folk.”
After going back to Spain to record his fist LP with The Walkers, the local label Mitik Records decided to get involved in his solo project, for which he had the privilege to count on the British drummer Daniel Hale and the talent of the French Richard Guil on the bass. Sharman Den’s first album will soon be officially born.
