How do I write a good gig request?
Your profile represents who you are so, before sending requests on LiveTrigger, it’s better to make your profile great.
Here are some tips to get you started with finding gigs and send a gig request or create Public gig Requests.
How to Write a Good Request
Don’t neglect the details when you’re starting a request:
- Timing: Send your requests at a reasonable time – generally 6 to 3 mounths before the date. Usually venues and promoter close the music programming 2 or 3 mounths before the dates, so it’s better to write to them on time; try not to send your requests too far in advance or at the last minute.
- Informations: Give the most detailed informations about you, your band, your tour and other booked gigs! In your request say why you are contacting this venue or promoter and not others! It’s better insert a video or a music link in the request: it helps the reader to faster hear your music!
- Make it personal: If you’re sending a gig request rather than a Public gig Request be sure to make it specific to that venue or promoter and thought out. Cut-and-paste Requests don’t impress many people. There are a lot of ways to personalize your request, but remember that the first step is to read every potential promoter’s profile thoroughly.
- Find common ground: When sending a gig request, you should show your potential promoter that you’ve read his or her profile and find it interesting. There are reasons you’ve chosen them, so let them know! Tell them what you might have in common or what you think you can share with them. If their profile mentions guidelines, let them know that you’re ok with their rules.
- Be polite: Always follow up. If a member is unable to book your show, send them a “Thanks anyway” note. If a promoter offers you a gig and you have made other arrangements, you need to let him/her know so that he/she isn’t expecting for you. Finally, if for any reason you need to cancel or change your travel plans, tell all your promoters right away! No one likes being stood up, particularly not by someone they haven’t met yet.
Get Set, Go!
You’re ready to find gigs! Once you’ve got your arrangements figured out, don’t forget to be a grateful and polite!
